Custom 823 Fountain Pen | Clear

The Pilot Custom 823 is one of Pilots most iconic fountain pens. It’s a lovely translucent demonstrator pen with the appearance of stained glass, framed by warm gold trim. It has a vacuum filling system that’s used with bottled ink, and it has a huge ink capacity, so it’s great for long writing sessions and is a wonderful pen to write with every day.

The Custom 823 has a classic cigar shape with gentle curves, echoed in the ball-shaped end of the metal clip, while the translucent body gives it a more modern feel. It has a resin body with a screw-on cap that can be posted and a large 14k gold nib. The pen comes in a gift set with a bottle of blue Pilot ink.

The pen has a safety valve to seal off the ink reservoir and prevent leaking, which makes it a great pen to travel with! To open the valve and start writing, unscrew the blind cap at the end of the pen about 2mm. To fill the pen, unscrew the blind cap all the way and pull back the plunger rod, then dip the nib in a bottle of ink and push the plunger down to create a vacuum that fills the pen.
